2009/10 Christmas and New Year holidays

Employees who normally work Tuesday to Friday

Chris normally works Tuesday to Friday.

This year Christmas Day falls on a Friday therefore Chris is entitled to a paid day off on that day.

This year Boxing Day falls on a Saturday which is not a day Chris would have worked.  Therefore, the public holiday will be observed on the following Monday. However, Chris is not entitled to a paid day off on Monday as it is not an otherwise working day for him.

This diagram shows Chris’ working pattern, when public holidays fall on and how public holidays are transferred from Saturday to the following Monday. click image for larger copy
