Member Support Personnel (MSP) Induction.
Course No 454

Contact: Shelley Hughes: NZEI Membership Education & Development Officer.
04 382 2714, Shelley.Hughes@nzei.org.nz

The target group for this workshop is NZEI activists who have been duly nominated and endorsed by NZEI executive structures to act as support people for members who are requiring additional support in order to resolve issues.

Participants may come from a range of professional backgrounds within the union but all would have held additional responsibilities within the union prior to taking on this role. The role and intention of MSP is to enable those members who wish to have additional support to resolve issues, being able to access people who have had training in low level resolution.  MSP people are advertised across regions and enable members to speak to others who are not so intimately involved in their own workplace but still have a good understanding of the professional and industrial issues that workers may be facing within their workplace.

The role and intention of MSP is to enable those members who wish to have additional support to resolve issues being able to access people who have had training in low level resolution of issues.  MSP people are advertised across regions and they are a mechanism for  members to speak to others who are not intimately involved in the member’s own workplace but nonetheless have a good understanding of the professional and industrial issues that workers may be facing within their workplace.

This conference provides an opportunity for MSP members to continue building on the skills they gained at their Induction programme and to discuss issues from cases that may have arisen during the course of the year.
